Blackstone Valley Women's Business Networking Luncheon

"Why We Have Too Few Women Leaders"

WHITINSVILLE, MASSACHUSETTS: The Blackstone Valley Women's Business Network Luncheon on Thursday April 21st 11:30-1:30 at Unibank, 49 Church Street Whitinsville, MA will focus on a timely topic, "Why We Have Too Few Women Leaders". Are leaders born? Or are they made? What about women leaders? And what about those women who beat the odds and zoom to the top? As it turns out, women continue to be especially underrepresented in leadership positions in virtually all professions. None of the CEOs at the top 15 media corporations are women. Only 3 percent of CEOs in Fortune 500 companies are women. And the most staggering of all...Women make on average only 77% of what men earn in similar jobs with similar experience. And...for the first time since the 1970s...the number of women in Congress declined!

A dynamic panel of women leaders will examine the role women play in business today and answer questions from the audience. Panelists include, Sandra Dunn, General Manager of the DCU Center in Worcester, and Suzanne Farias, General Manager at the Four Points by Sheraton in Leominster. A special video presentation addressing leadership and featuring Sheryl Sandberg, CEO of Facebook will be presented prior to the Q&A session.

Every other month, the BV Women's Networking Luncheon provides a topic that fuels professional and personal development. Women who own or run a business, women who work in someone's business, women who wish to start a business and women who seek more personal impact can benefit from these programs. $15.00 includes lunch or you may register for the entire 2011 series of six luncheons for $50.00.
