Blackstone Valley Humanities Scholars Campus Visits

The Blackstone Valley Humanities Scholars program offers select students from each of the participating High Schools an exciting learning opportunity. Students enhance their studies in American history/American culture, with their faculty advisors by attending professor lead lectures and seminars that are presented at 4 colleges throughout the school year. Each professor not only speaks to issues pertaining to the year's theme, but also challenges students to think critically and creatively. Overall, the program's design encourages students to be knowledgeable citizens and to accept responsibility in shaping the future of the United States.

This year's select students that include sophomores, juniors or seniors from Blackstone Valley High Schools, are considering the topic "The American Dream: Different Generations; Different Aspirations". Campus site visits include Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Stonehill College, Providence College, and Bryant University. Each campus visit includes a faculty lecture, discussion group, campus tour, lunch, and gallery visit.

If they choose, each school will host their own "Presentation Night" and feature a creative depiction of their newly formed understanding of "The American Dream. . . ."
