Daniels Farmstead Joins Blackstone Valley Heritage Homecoming

BLACKSTONE VALLEY - Blackstone Valley Heritage Homecoming 2006 welcomes a new open house weekend event at Daniels Farmstead in Blackstone. Open to the public for interpretive tours only last fall, Blackstone Valley Heritage HomecomingDaniels Farm joins us in celebrating Heritage Homecoming for the very first time. The venerable old farm house and several of the outbuildings, including the historic cider mill will all be open from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm for tours conducted by Daniels Farmstead Foundation volunteers on Saturday, September 30th and Sunday, October 1st. Included will be exhibits of yesteryear, a sampling of live farm animals, and hand spinning on a genuine antique wheel.

Blackstone Valley's Heritage Homecoming 2006 is held over two consecutive weekends, September 23rd to 24th and September 30th to October 1st. Heritage Homecoming is an early Autumn celebration held in the eleven Massachusetts communities of the Blackstone River Valley. The nine day, two weekend heritage tourism celebration features harvest festivals, historical tours, farming attractions and cultural events that collectively attract the largest number of visitors annually to the Blackstone Valley.

In addition to the new open house event at Daniels Farmstead, traditional Heritage Homecoming events include Sutton's Waters Farm Days, Hopedale's "Day In The Park," the Harvest Fair and Apple Pie Social on Grafton Common, Heritage Day in Upton and the Civil War Encampment at the historic River Bend Farm in Uxbridge.

Additional information on 2006 Blackstone Valley Heritage Homecoming events can be found at the Heritage Homecoming Committees website: http://www.bv-heritage-homecoming.org.
