Roger Williams Park Zoo Offers Affordable, Unique Education Experience for Toddlers and Preschoolers

Spring Classes Enrolling Now

Providence, RI — Roger Williams Park Zoo is accepting registrations for their early childhood education programs, which provide toddlers and preschoolers with developmentally appropriate lessons to help the children acquire new skills while exploring through play.

"Our early childhood education classes have typically been one of our most popular programs, probably because parents appreciate the fact that it has incredible educational value for their children while also being a lot of fun," said Shareen Knowlton, director of education for the Zoo.

Preschool Adventures and Toddler Trek classes offer children and their parents a hands on approach to learning about the world we live in and all of its many inhabitants. In all of these programs children can enjoy activities based around the many animals that we have at the Zoo. Toddler Trek classes for March through May have already been filled, but space is still available for Preschool Adventures programs for children ages three – five attending with adults.

In Preschool Adventures each child/adult pair will be provided the opportunity to discover the natural world through a lesson designed around a special animal or area of the zoo March sessions will focus on the Farmyard, April on Flamingos and May classes will study Animals in Trees. Each 90-minute program includes a lesson, snack and craft component.

For more information and to register, visit www.rwpzoo.org and click on the Education tab. For further questions, or to have a printed registration form mailed to you, call 401-785-3510 x358.

Roger Williams Park Zoo, one of the oldest in the nation, is Rhode Island's number one outdoor family and tourist attraction and is also a leader in conservation efforts undertaken by a zoo of its size. The Zoo has received numerous awards for conservation work done both around the globe and in local habitats as well, caring for species that, without human intervention, would face certain extinction. Roger Williams Park Zoo is supported and maintained by the Rhode Island Zoological Society and is owned by the City of Providence.
