Valley Tech Special Education Parent Advisory Council to Host Workshop
UPTON — The Blackstone Valley Tech Special Education Parent Advisory Council (PAC) will be hosting a workshop on January 5, 2012. Ms. Nancy Swanberg from The Friendship Network for Children in Northboro will speak about social challenges children may have and how parents can help. The workshop will take place in the Library Media Center at Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School located at 65 Pleasant Street, Upton, MA from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The Friendship Network for Children, Inc. is a nonprofit mental health organization serving children with autism, Asperger's syndrome, NLD, and PDD. It was founded by Nancy Swanberg, M.S., a licensed mental health counselor with extensive experience in public and private schools, mental health agencies, and private practice. The mission of the Friendship Network for Children is to decrease the isolation of children with autism by providing therapeutic socialization activities; and trainings to parents and professionals thus increasing interactions with friends, family, and the community.
