Blackstone Valley Manufacturing Academy (MFGA)
The Blackstone Valley Education Foundation has launched a Manufacturing Academy (MFGA) for juniors and seniors within the Blackstone Valley who can benefit from a good career choice after High School graduation. Students are required to participate in all twelve, 2.5 hour sessions that will take place twice a month on Tuesdays from 3-5:30pm starting in November and concluding in mid May. Students will be engaged in employability education to strengthen resume writing, interviewing skills and presentation; advanced manufacturing lab skill development with the use of CAD (Computer Aided Design) and model making; as well as visits to area manufacturers throughout the valley including Washington Mills, Lampin Corporation, Atlas Box and Crating, TempFlex, and others. Participants can be connected to part time and full time work opportunities. This is the third in a series of Young Professional programs for Blackstone Valley Youth and is funded by Education Foundations Grants to Teachers & Schools.
