Education Foundation

In concert with the Chamber of Commerce, the Education Foundation leads and supports education that promotes workforce development and enhances the quality of life in the Blackstone Valley. The Foundation provides programs and events for youth and adults that strengthen their professional, personal, and academic development. Support for the Foundation comes from member schools, proceeds from the annual golf tournament, grants, and the generosity of area businesses and community residents.

Blackstone Valley Youth Leadership Academy

Class of 2011 Graduates

The Blackstone Valley Youth Leadership Academy is a unique leadership program for 9th and 10th grade students in Massachusetts high schools across the Blackstone Valley. The Academy seeks to enhance the leadership skills of young people and strengthen their connection to the Blackstone Valley.

Blackstone Valley School-To-Career Partnership

The Blackstone Valley Education Foundation in concert with Workforce Central of Central Massachusetts and with funds from the Commonwealth, convenes Career Coordinators from each of the Blackstone Valley High Schools to enhance the school experience and strengthen workforce development knowledge among these select educators.

Grants to Schools and Teachers

Each year the Blackstone Valley Education Foundation raises funds from business and industry and through the generous donations of residents, friends, and golf tournament participants to support schools and teachers via grants up to $5,000.

BLACKSTONE VALLEY LEADERSHIP

Blackstone Valley Leadership Program development is funded this year by the John H. Chafee National Heritage Corridor initiative and will be launched by Fall, 2012. This program's foundation is derived from the Leadership Blackstone Valley program currently on hiatus. Blackstone Valley Leadership is designed to cultivate talented individuals who continue to thrive in and enhance this special place along the Blackstone Valley National Heritage Corridor and those throughout the country who seek insight about steward-leader skills development and practice.

BLACKSTONE VALLEY STEM CONFERENCE

The Blackstone Valley STEM Conference is provided in partnership with Tufts-Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine to 7th and 8th graders among the member schools in the Valley. The Conference ignites student interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math careers while spending the day on a college campus. It's an amazing event!

Art in the Valley

Art in the Valley is an effort among K-8 students and their teachers providing a regional venue for outstanding work. Save the Date! The annual Art in the Valley will be held at Elmwood Elementary School in Millbury, MA. Opening Reception from 7-9 on Friday, April 6th and Exhibition from 10-2 on Saturday, April 7th, 2012.

BLACKSTONE VALLEY HUMANITIES SCHOLARS

The Blackstone Valley Humanities Scholars program targets high achieving humanities students in grades 10-12 and offers a year-long program to enhance their studies in American history and American culture. Included is visits to four campuses for lecture and tour and a culminating Presentation Night in late April.
