Hopedale
Hopedale was split off from neighboring Milford in 1886 at the request of
the Draper family, founder of Draper Mills, the town's largest employer.
Within a few years, Draper was the world's largest supplier of textile
machinery. The Draper family's influence continued to be felt
throughout the town , as it funded and oversaw construction of employee
housing, public buildings and parks. With its tree-shaded streets,
stone walls and wealth of architecturally-and historically-significant
buildings, Hopedale retains its mill-village character today.
