Millville
Set on the Rhode Island border, Millville embodies two of America's best-loved
traditions: innovation and baseball. Started by the mill owners to build
morale and teamwork, the town's baseball teams featured seven eventual
Hall of Fame legends, including Casey Stengal. Millville's industry,
built up along the locks of the Blackstone River, has incluede rubber
and felt for boot liners. today the town's residents work within
the Blackstone Valley or in the nearby high-tech Route I-495 belt.
The town's traditions are preserved in post-and-beam historic
buildings, the locks which raised and lowered the river for shipping
traffic, and a continued focus on education and quality of life.
