Uxbridge
The bountiful water power of the Blackstone River and its major tributaries
provided the basis for tremendous industrial development in Uxbridge
before the Revolutionary War. Innovations such as power loom weaving could
be found in Uxbridge, and by the Civil War many of the town's massive mills
were running day and night to support the Union War effort. Today Uxbridge's
rolling fields and attractions, such as Voss Farm and the West Hill Dam,
offer ideal getaways for residents and visitors alike, while its mill
structures offer available space for small and large businesses.
